How Can I Get My Friend To Play Gay Truth Or Dare

Critique of "Dog Day Afternoon" ("Dog Day Afternoon" USA 1975)

Synopsis: A small band of petty criminals decide to rob a bank branch in Brooklyn, but his lack of dedication and experience will make a robbery that was planned to last for just 10 minutes to become a trap for the robbers and a circus live TV.
If we speak plainly of what would be one of the best storytellers in the history of cinema, I think certainly in the top five would be this tremendous filmmaker named Sydney Lumet.

Born June 25, 1924 in Philadelphia, Lumet has dazzled and disappointed to film audiences may equally throughout his long career. From his brilliant debut film that jewel entitled "Twelve Angry Men, "this director he knew how each of his works a distinctive stamp to this day have no doubt effective. Lumet has had real examples of how to narrate a film as simple and effective way that one can not but be astonished at such a nature that follows this excellent filmmaker.

"Serpico," "The Verdict" and "Before The Devil Knows You're Dead" are tiny examples of tremendous film gems that I had the opportunity to enjoy the hand of this great director. Back in 1975, Lumet had been enjoying a good run of films, including great products like "Serpico" or "Murder on the Orient Express" and would continue to perfect the tape so that today we will discuss in this blog, entitled "Dog Day Afternoon."

The film begins by recounting the true story about a robbery express a Brooklyn bank, which for all those involved should have been something simple, low time and totally effective. However, the inexperience of the criminals will make what seemed at first completely routine robbery, it becomes a terrible nightmare overnight.

"Dog Day Afternoon" is a film that hardly fits into a particular genre since we are talking about a film that really so amazing mix drama, suspense, police, a little action and even a touch of comedy fabulously inserted in a script that has no waste. And this is where I want to hold mostly along the review, as perhaps simple but flawless script. Quite simply we are talking about a script that has everything a little and fabulously well told by a filmmaker like Lumet, who by then was in a real state of grace. Starting

a fabulous presentation of what would be a simple robbery, the director inserts us very little in development impeccable reasons for it and the intentions of main characters, giving one end and meticulous care of the main character played by a very young and brilliant Al Pacino. In fact, we have too many scenes with no sense here, much less stagnation in the narrative pace of the film, making a film that exceeds two hours, it will pass as quickly as downright effective.

is also true that the film earns a lot of interest when mixing tracks as interesting as the world is gay and all the controversy it generates, as well as the fact show very poor policing to an extreme or almost laugh at how is manages the dreaded tabloid journalism in such circumstances. In short, this is a script that provides many nuances, but all narrated in a very natural throughout the film.

know that good a film narrated greatly helps the performance of the characters acting the same, and we know that Lumet always seeks out the best in each of the actors who are under his control (just ask Vin Diesel to deadpan in its more than decent performance in "Find Me Guilty"), for which a genius like Al Pacino not only had no problems in playing her character, but frankly and by far, is the best of the film. A boy who shows plenty of sentiment over tape and all so different that one can not even believe at times that this film is based on a true story. Great performance by Al Pacino, actors and great direction by Sidney Lumet.

In short, "Dog Day Afternoon" is a great example of police movies of the seventies. Lumet gives us with this film a film that not only entertains, but it develops very interesting theme throughout his excellent footage.

Movie Rating: Excellent. Read
