Mudroom Lockers Toronto

"Agent Salt" ("Salt" USA 2010)

Synopsis: As the CIA officer, Evelyn Salt took an oath to duty and honor to his country. Their loyalty is tested when a deserter accused of being a Russian spy. Salt is given to the escape and is forced to use all his skills and years experience as a spy disguised to prevent the capture. Salt's efforts to prove his innocence only serve to further raise suspicions about their motives. While continuing the hunt to uncover the truth behind his identity, a question remains latent Who is Salt?
One could say without doubt that Angelina Jolie has been one of Hollywood actresses that has dabbled in the genre of action films in recent years. Examples of this abound, but to give only a few, could quote movies like "Tomb Raider", "60 Seconds", "Mr. And Mrs. Smith "and to my excellent "Wanted", where he shared cast opposite James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman, among others.

"Agent Salt" is, in short, a rare film to classify. Is obviously an action movie that sounds like the great trilogy of Jason Bourne films, but with far fewer claims taken too seriously in itself. There is precisely where lies the greatest difference between the two films, as in action makes me very difficult to differentiate between the two tapes.

In any case, without further or a more odious comparisons paragraph should say "Salt", with limited plot and everything ends up being a brilliant action entertainment for any audience seeking non-stop action film for an hour and forty minutes of footage filmed superbly.

The script here was handled by the great director Kurt Wimmer, owner of excellent film scripts such as "Equilibrium", "The Recruit", "Street Kings" and "Law Abiding Citizen." Wimmer gave him "Salt" strong script, where it seeks to develop in the most tedious possible most of the characters during the first 20 minutes of footage.

I say during the first twenty minutes of the tape, because then the script turns in a very evident to a continuous action until the end of your footage, more precisely since the character of "Salt" to escape their captors decide to test a innocence increasingly punctuated by multiple suspects. Perhaps in that stretch, the script resigned a little argument with the seriousness which had begun, but it is also fair to say that the film earns significantly in intensity as the product of action, since the tape is not from that time to give the viewer a barrage of gunfire and car chases filmed superbly.

"Agent Salt" was behind the camera to a solvent director. Irregular in his career (it's fair to say) but at the end of the solvent. "Danger," "Patriot Games" and "The Bone Collector" (Great movie), were some of the interesting titles that Phillip Noyce what he achieved in his long film career. Four years after his last feature film "Catch a Fire" (tape drama with Tim Robbins), Noyce offered to "Agent Salt" a display of fast-paced action for almost 80% of the film.

shootings everywhere, both on foot chases auto, excellent camera movements and a highly accurate fitting for this type of production. Perhaps, in giving the film much action he has played against in terms of the narrative, as the final stretch of the tape it shows the haste with little evidence of the plot, with some situations and scenes develop very quickly.

It is also fair to say that ultimately the direction of Noyce has been very successful from beginning to end, providing a rush of action scenes filmed extremely well (I would have liked to see a little blood) that undoubtedly cause the delight of lovers of this type of film.

As the cast of the film do not really have much to criticize, but not too much to applaud. The script has not given space to many characters in the film to develop fully and in this situation come the two main protagonists of the film.

know that many viewers and critics literally hate the work in front of cameras that usually offers Angelina Jolie in their respective roles. In particular never seemed to be a great actress, but neither seems to me a disaster as many say. I think his performance in "The Substitute" ("Changeling" by Clint Eastwood) has been spectacularly good, so I feel that Angelina is an interesting actress in many ways and one of the few that actually encourages this type of leading roles such as "Salt Agent."

to go in final and concluding, "Agent Salt" is a great action movie. Although the film contains some mismatches narrative, it is also true that as entertaining to see tapes and well filmed as this is not an everyday thing in the film world today. This, in itself, is a definite reason to celebrate.

Critique of "Paranormal Activity 2" ("Paranormal Activity 2" USA 2010)

Synopsis: After experimenting, they believe, a series of intrusions to your home, a family decides to put up security cameras to identify the thief, but will find a series of sinister events taking place during the night at his home.
After the year 2007, the Israeli director Oren Peli revolutionized the North American box office with his downright good production "Paranormal Activity", many believed (Now I realize how wrong they were, not from the point of view, but from the narrative point of view) we were in the presence of a new franchise in the supernatural horror film. "Paranormal Activity" was a film that drank filmic style too imposed at the time the (for me) great film called "The Blair Witch Project", taking for himself the aesthetic narrative derived from the known fake documentary.

However, Oren Peli tape had, in my view, a very fluid narration to keep the audience aware of a history screen showing only the drama of the main characters during the 90 minutes of footage that this film had.

Thus, little by little, the story was providing data that we did move the film scene by scene without too many problems to reach a correct outcome, with which one may or may not agree, but that really does not detract in any point of view the overall result of "Paranormal Activity".

was really evident, moreover, that this final section (which grasped the great Steven Spielberg) had strictly to do with being able to continue with what today remains a spectacular franchise monetary level, but unfortunately (and fortunately I weigh, and I expected something else) sinks grandly in the most unfortunate aspect of the narrative inconsistencies I had a chance to see recently in the film industry.

The story of "Paranormal Activity 2" we chronologically placed some time before the events of the original tape. At first, we are introduced to the family of the sister of the character of the original film (starring in the first film by Katie Featherston) who are enjoying the arrival of their first child. Everything will be fine at first, but slowly things will complicate, with events difficult to explain rationally and they apparently have Katie's sister as an end.

is not too difficult to explain what the main problem that has the script for "Paranormal Activity 2." In fact, it is very easy to decipher and very palpable for any viewer who enjoy This regular tape. His story is extremely weak during the first hour of footage. Yes, that simple. There's absolutely nothing.

Everything good in this regard had the original tape, which every five minutes we gave some interesting element to be putting the viewer into the story told, has almost completely lost in this poor sequel. I say almost entirely, because the script has some pros that I will elaborate below.

is quite laudable, the fact that the film works perfectly as a prequel and a sequel early on its final stretch, as the story told here is very well built in that sense, so this second part engages perfectly with the story told in the original tape.

addition, the latest installment of "Paranormal Activity 2" is fairly good, with lots of tension and scenes that show a very good suspense, but ultimately make their appearance in a way too late, almost when the viewer cares little about the fate that may hold for each of the main characters of the film.

In fact, to be honest, when the tape starts to become really interesting things start to happen so quickly and abruptly, the film ends in a blink of an eye frankly unreliable. It is not a technical problem, since the tape in this regard is completely flawless, with a couple of scenes that by themselves pay the viewing of the film almost exclusively.

is, in short, a purely narrative problem, and that's where Tod Williams's film fails in almost all the first part, which obviously affects (a lot) in the final outcome of the film.

Ultimately, "Paranormal Activity 2" is a loose continuation of a good film that in no view can be exploited too much by stretching a franchise that does not provide for much more. There is no narrative thread to grip, no surprise that tie the viewer in his armchair. And all was seen, and all were counted. I doubt the producers realize this (the profit is all that matters), but at least I keep the memory of the most original film that is right for this franchise.

Movie Rating: Average.

Review of "The Origin "(" Inception "USA - England 2010)

Synopsis: Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the best of all, specializing in the dangerous art of extraction: the theft of valuable secrets from the depths of the subconscious during sleep state when the mind is more vulnerable. This exceptional ability of Cobb has made him a coveted player in the treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but at the same time, has become an international fugitive and made him sacrifice all that mattered. Now Cobb is offered a chance to redeem. With one last job could regain its former life, but only if it achieves the impossible. Instead of carrying out the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to reverse the operation: the task is not to steal an idea, but to insert one. If successful, it could be the perfect crime. However, careful planning and expertise can not prepare the team for Cobb to the dangers of mind facing.

At this point, I think anyone would tremble to write pulse in a humble lines about the narrative that has tremendous capacity Mr. Christopher Nolan. His filmography is, in fact, a tremendous luxury from his first film to tape today comment on the blog. Years ago, it has been awful films like "Memento," "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight," "The Prestige" and even the seemingly most common tape of his films (but that does not cease to be a very good film) entitled "White Nights."

His most recent film "The Source" is, in short, a cinematic experience downright pleasant in its nearly two hours and a half, in a film that has almost everything. Good story, great action scenes, good performances (The DiCaprio is getting better) and a script (the direct heir of the trilogy of "Matrix") perfectly constructed, make "The Source", is one of the best movies I've seen in recent years by far.

As usual in his films, Nolan was in charge of rebuscadísimo and extremely witty script for "The Origin." A script that builds your spine in fact implement a idea in the mind of a character in the film in his dreams, but that in turn opens many subplots hard to follow at some point to the viewer, but it is also fair to say that none of this gets in the history of film and its central original idea.

Nolan narrates the film with amazing ease, making the film advance not only without any problems, but a incredibly rapid pace for the viewer, if one considers that the excessive length of the film does not feel all at any time of the film. In short, "The Source" has narrated a script flawlessly, very interesting and incredibly well expressed in his strong and unique film footage.

The technical section of the film is tremendously effective in all his films. First-line special effects, camera work extremely well maintained and a dramatic use of slow motion action (as well is evident in a great scene that share a duet as the same luxury with the beautiful DiCaprio Ellen Page), are just some of the many accomplishments of this film.

"The Source" is a film that desperately needed to be a visual feast from beginning to end, and really his picture fell short of the circumstances. Wally Pfister, habitual in that category director Christopher Nolan, the film offers an interesting range of resources incredibly well recorded in his final cut, like the great Hans Zimmer, who delights us again with a soundtrack that comes with extreme stress almost all levels of this perfect film.

What I can say at this stage of Leonardo DiCaprio as an actor? For only that each day the boy surprised me a little more. Is no longer that inexperienced actor did not convince me at all in films like "Titanic" or "The Beach", just the opposite. It has become one of the actors of the moment, with gestures own a great leader and "The Source" does nothing more than confirm the excellent moment in front of cameras.

Accompanied by a very good way by the entire cast, but above all for a very natural actress and so is Ellen Page, "The Origin" will eventually become a product of incredible technical quality film and storyline.

Beyond being inherited or "Matrix" (I believe that many things do, and many other things), the new film by Christopher Nolan is an amazing experience from start to finish, both in its visual style as in his narrative style. A demonstration of the mastery to which We have used this excellent director.

Movie Rating: Excellent.
